Dear parents and children,
You may have lived in different cultures, like Lyndsey and Ole, or perhaps this is your first experience living overseas like Hunter and Saleh in the true stories that follow. Whatever your situation, there are sure to be lots of wonderful adventures, new friendships and curious things to see, taste and feel in your new country.
Alongside all of this fun there can also be challenges and upsets adjusting to changes and saying goodbye to things or people you knew so well. Hafsah from Pakistan, Francisco from Brazil, Diana from Australia each have stories to share about this. And they’re not the only ones who share their stories.
Like many kids you may have said to your parents when you heard the news of moving to a new country, “I don’t want to go!” It may seem hard for you to believe if you have just moved, however it is likely when it is time to move again you might feel, “I don’t want to go!”
Our wish for you and your family is that your experience is an enjoyable one. When upsets happen, the stories and fun activities will help you come up with some great ideas so you can feel happier and more in control of your life.
Best wishes,
Bárbara, Cherie, Kathryn, Lucinda, Maryam, Ulrike
